Omaha |
|
Omaha is similar to Texas Hold'em. The difference is
that the hands in Omaha are usually much better, since you get to choose from 9
cards total. This game is also somewhat more intricate as starting hand values
are more marginal and more is determined on the flop. Omaha is played for many
betting amounts, most commonly pot limit.
1. The two players to the left of the dealer are the small and large blinds. The
small blind must put in half a small bet, the large blind a full small bet.
Then Each player is dealt four cards face down. After looking at their hole
cards the players, beginning with the player immediately left of the big blind
have the option of calling, folding or raising.

| The five cards on the table are community cards. Your hand is formed by taking
exactly two hole cards and
exactly three community cards, and forming the
best
poker hand possible. But remember, all the players have access to the community
cards. This game is often played with a split pot, in this case the game is
called Omaha 8/b (eight or better). In this case the player with the best
high hand wins half the pot and player with the
best low hand (5 cards 8 and under) wins
the other half of the pot. The same rules regarding 2hole cards and 3
community cards apply. If no player can make a low the high hand wins the
entire pot. This is referred to as "scooping". If a player ties for
low or hi the win half of that half of the pot. This is called getting
"quartered". |
